I was asking pretty much the same question. Eventually found exactly the tool for the job and it's excellent. Have a look at http://www.jagre.com they have a thing called DXSuite and it's part of that suite, doesn't say too much about fonts on the site but if you contact them they will sort you out with the right tools - save you hours of boring work.
